Agenda For 16 Lessons:
Lesson 1:
- Explain the breakdown of the ABRSM Initial Grade Exam
- Introduce C major Scale & C major Arpeggios, hands separately
- Review the List A song (Song name: This Old Man) which we already learnt in Intermediate Level 1 Piano Program and polish it, mainly to work on the dynamics and musicality
Lesson 2:
- Review C major Scale & C major Arpeggios and then introduce D natural minor scale & D minor Arpeggios
- Review List A song
- Learn a List B song (Song name: The Lost Bone) hands separately
Lesson 3:
- Review C and D minor scale and arpeggios, then introduce C contrary motion scale
- Review List B song hands separately then learn it hands together slowly
- Introduce the concept of Sight Reading (the idea of being able to read music and play on the spot) and give students some training on Sight Reading
Lesson 4
- Review all scales and arpeggios
- Polish and practice List B piece
- More Sight-Reading Practice
Lesson 5
- Learn the right hand of List C song (Song name: Elephant Parade)
- Review all scales and arpeggios
Lesson 6
- Review List B piece again and help students practice
- Review right hand of List C song and learn left hand of List C song
- Introduce the 4 components of Aural Tests and practice component ‘a’ as listed above – the idea of being able to clap the pulse of a piece
Lesson 7
- Review all scales and arpeggios
- Learn List C song hands together slowly
- Sight reading practice
Lesson 8
- Practice Aural Test component ‘a’
- Introduce Aural Test component ‘b’ – the idea of being able to clap the rhythm of two phrases played by the examiner
Lesson 9
- Review List C song and polish it – work on dynamics and musicality
- Sight Reading Practice
- Practice aural test component ‘a’ and ‘b’
Lesson 10
- Introduce aural test component ‘c’ and ‘d’ – the idea of being able to sing back the two phrases played by the examiner AND the idea of being able to recognize important musical features in pieces.
Lesson 11 (Run through everything in the exam)
- Review all scales and arpeggios
- Review List A, B , C songs
Lesson 12
- Sight Reading Practice
- Practice all 4 aural test components ‘a’ ‘b’ ‘c’ ‘d’
Lesson 13-16: Intensive practice and gaining strong understanding on the music notes and theory.

Things you should know before taking the HUNARly classes:
- Every Lesson at HUNARly is great learning, please set a reminder for the dates and timings of the Online Programme so that the child does not miss on the subject. We start our lessons on time, so make sure to join the link a few minutes before the class starts.

- After enrolling to the course, you will get access to ‘Learning Portal’ Tab. You can see the class notes listed, but we recommend the children to practice only what is completed in the class, and not to rush for lessons ahead. The teacher can sometimes go slow or go ahead in the Learning Portal depending on the session’s progress.
- As these are small group lessons, so the course start date or classes during the holidays are tentative and can be slightly moved if more than 70% of participants have requested a change or are not available.
- During the course, if the teacher is not available, then we have the right to arrange a cover teacher or extend the course dates. We handpick the best teachers and do the due diligence for you so that the child’s learning is not discontinued.
- We are only responsible for the teaching of the courses and not the exam registrations. We can guide you upon request but we encourage you to be on top with the dates and submissions so that you do not miss out on important deadlines.
Cancellation policy
Any cancellation requests after payment will be refunded as HUNARly credits only, which means you can use the amount for your next course booking. We recommend you go through the course agenda, teacher profile, course fee, and after that proceed to enroll in the course.
